5.8 Meine Tagesroutine

Guten Tag!

Zum Aufwärmen machen wir unseren Tagesminiplausch und eine Wiederholung.

Wiederholung

In the previous lesson, you learned the names of different types of vehicles, how to say what vehicles you have or don’t have, and how you travel to and from school. Let’s review what you have learned.

Jetzt bist du dran!

How do you get to the university? Choose one of the methods that you learned that best fits your situation, and then write it in your written journal. Then practice saying this method aloud (zu Fuß, mit dem Fahrrad, etc.).

Lektionsüberblick

Now that you can speak generally about your free time activities and studies, in this lesson, we will start to expand our focus of your life at university to include the kind of daily tasks that make up the rest of the day. In the end, you will be able to 1) name some daily activities, 2) list the order in which you do the daily activities, and 3) talk about your daily activities on the 24hr clock.

1) Daily tasks

What activities do you do each and every day? Was ist deine Tagesroutine (daily routine)? Let’s learn the activities that make up your day by looking at pictures illustrating each activity. Then read the text, listen to the audio, and repeat aloud.

Morgens…

Mittags/Nachmittags…

Abends/In der Nacht

Jetzt bist du dran!

Was gehört zu deiner Tagesroutine? What belongs to your daily routine? It’s time to doodle! In your written journal, draw a simple picture of each of the activities above that you do each day. Make notes next to the picture in German to show the meaning. If drawing is not your thing, feel free to use another method that helps you connect the words with each action.

2) My daily tasks

Let’s become more familiar with these daily tasks. Complete the exercise below. Be sure to listen and repeat the phrases that you hear.

Jetzt bist du dran!

Wie sieht deine Tagesroutine aus? In what order to you do your activities? Is it in the same order as the activity above? Using the phrases from the activity, jot down your standard daily operating procedure in your written journal.
Then listen to each daily task in the ordering activity above and repeat each sentence in your audio journal.

3) My daily tasks on the 24hr clock

Um wie viel Uhr stehst du auf? What time do you get up? Um wie viel Uhr frühstückst du? What time do you eat breakfast? Wann gehst du ins Bett? When do you go to bed? This next section is all about when you do your daily tasks.

First let’s do a quick review of the 24-hour clock as learned in Lektion 5.4.

Let’s look at the daily routine again, this time with times.

Jetzt bist du dran!

Wie sieht dein Tag aus? Wann machst du was? In your written journal, go back to your list of daily routine activities and write down when you typically do each of them. Remember to use um before the time.

Zum Schluß

In this lesson, you learned to 1) name some daily activities, 2) list the order in which you do the daily activities, and 3) talk about your daily activities on the 24hr clock. If you are feeling unsure about any part of the expanded introduction, go back to that section and review.
Let’s bring all of the parts together. To begin, write down as many parts as you can of your daily routine in chronological order stating the times of each activity – without looking at your notes or this lesson. When you are done, compare with your notes/this lesson and make change as necessary. Do your sentences look like the ones here? Did you forget some activities that are typically part of your daily routine. Once you have corrected all of your writing, copy out your text again with the changes for extra practice.
When you are done, record yourself in your audio journal. If you can do it immediately without reading, that’s great! Otherwise, practice saying it a couple times before recording. Or rerecord, if you are not satisfied.
