4.9 Was ich gern mache – Online-Hobbys

Zum Aufwärmen machen wir unseren Tagesminiplausch und eine Wiederholung.

Wiederholung

In the previous lesson, you learned different types of sports and how to say that you like to play and watch different types of sports. Let’s review.

Jetzt bist du dran!

Welchen Sport siehst du oder spielst du gern? Which sport do you like to watch or play? If you don’t watch or play sports, do you remember how to express that? In your journal write down the sports you enjoy watching or playing. If you would like a challenge, write a complete sentence using the sentences in the activity above as a template. Then record yourself saying the sentence aloud.

Lektionsüberblick

If you did not find (m)any of your hobbies in the previous lessons, you will hopefully find some in this one. Remember, we are presenting a large number of hobbies for two reasons: 1) You will hopefully find at least two of your hobbies (if not, contact your instructor!) and 2) you can begin to acquire a passive vocabulary of hobbies, i.e. that you are able to hear/read some of the words and recognize them as hobbies, even if you do not always remember what they mean exactly.

Because there are so many different kinds of hobbies, we will “only” cover online hobbies in this lesson. (Lektion 4.7 introduced you to creative hobbies and Lektion 4.8 to sports. Lektion 4.10 will introduce you to to other hobbies and other free time activities). In the end, you will be able to 1) recognize different kinds of online hobbies and 2) name some hobbies you like to participate in.

Hast du Online-Hobbys? Do you have online hobbies? Read and listen to the hobbies above and write down any of the sentences in your written journal that are true to you.
Now record this in German in your audio journal. If you can do it immediately without reading, that’s great! Otherwise, practice saying it a couple times before recording. Or rerecord, if you are not satisfied.

2) Was ich gern mache…

Do you remember the word you add to a sentence to indicate that you like to do that activity? Read and listen to Houssem and you will spot it. Then answer the questions that follow.

 

Das ist Houssem. Er sagt:

Ich komme aus Hamburg und studiere auch dort. Ich bin nicht sportlich oder aktiv in meiner Freizeit. Ich höre gern Musik und schaue gern Videos auf meinem Handy. Ich fotografiere auch gern und bin Content Creator. Ich mache einen Blog und Podcast über Musik.

Are you like Houssem or different? Write down the sentences in Houssem’s description that are like you. Or, if you are quite different, choose another sentence from the activities in the lesson to copy down in your journal instead.
Then record yourself in your audio journal. If you can do it immediately without reading, that’s great! Otherwise, practice saying it a couple times before recording. Or rerecord, if you are not satisfied.

Zum Schluß

In this lesson, you learned to 1) recognize different kinds of online hobbies and 2) name some hobbies you participate in. If you are feeling unsure about any part of the expanded introduction, go back to that section and review.
In your written journal make a list of the activities from this lesson that you like to do. Welches Online-Hobby is dein Lieblings-Hobby? Record yourself saying your favorite online hobby aloud in your audio journal. If you can do it immediately without reading, that’s great! Otherwise, practice saying it a couple times before recording. Or rerecord, if you are not satisfied.
