Do you like to do any of the activities above? If so, write down one of the sentences in your written journal. If not, what is an online hobby you enjoy? Write that hobby down in your written journal.
Lektionsüberblick
If you did not find (m)any of your hobbies in the previous lessons, you will hopefully find them in this final lesson on hobbies. Remember, we are presenting a large number of hobbies for two reasons: 1) You will hopefully find at least two of your hobbies (if not, contact your instructor!) and 2) you can begin to acquire a passive vocabulary of hobbies, i.e. that you are able to hear/read some of the words and recognize them as hobbies, even if you do not always remember what they mean exactly.
Most if not all of you also regularly participate in activities that you probably would not call hobbies. Maybe you are in a student interest club or a fraternity/sorority. Maybe you do volunteer work or regularly visit a house of worship. Perhaps you go home on the weekends to visit your family. This lesson will teach you how to talk about these topics as well.
Because there are so many different kinds of hobbies, we will “only” cover other hobbies and other free time activities in this lesson. (Lektion 4.7 introduced you to creative hobbies, Lektion 4.8 to sports, and Lektion 4.9 to online hobbies.) In the end, you will be able to 1) recognize different kinds of miscellaneous hobbies, 2) recognize different kinds of other free time activities, and 3) name some hobbies and free time activities you like to participate in.
