Servus!
Let’s warm up with our daily small talk (Tagesminiplausch) and a brief review (Wiederholung).
In the previous lesson, you learned how to say your favorite color and ask someone their favorite color. Let’s review what you have learned so far.
Jetzt bist du dran!
In your audio journal, record yourself saying your favorite color. You may simply say the color, or you can use a complete sentence, Meine Lieblingsfarbe ist… [insert favorite color].

1) How to talk about color hues
The German word hell is a false friend, meaning it looks exactly like an English word, but it doesn’t have the same meaning at all. See if you can figure out what the three words across mean by looking at the examples and pictures.
hell | dunkel | bunt | ||
hellblau | dunkelblau | die bunte Fahne | ||
2) How to talk about color amounts
Now let’s consider how to say the amount of something. See if you can figure out what the four words on the left mean by looking at the examples and pictures.
sehr viel | Es gibt (there is) sehr viel lila. | 🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪 |
viel | Es gibt (there is) viel lila. | 🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪🟪 |
ein bisschen |
Es gibt (there is) ein bisschen lila. | 🟪🟪🟪 |
wenig | Es gibt wenig lila. | 🟪 |
Now look at the mural, read and listen to the description.
Im Bild gibt es ein bisschen gelb.
