4.4 Mein Freundeskreis an der Uni

Hallo allerseits!

Zum Aufwärmen machen wir unseren Tagesminiplausch und eine Wiederholung.

Wiederholung

In the previous lesson, you learned how to describe different kinds of relationships. Let’s review what you have learned.

Jetzt bist du dran!

In your written journal, describe one relationship that you have with another person. Perhaps it is a good friend or a romantic partner. Now write a sentence that describes your ideal partner. Finally read your sentences aloud for your audio journal.

Lektionsüberblick

Are you the kind of person with a large group of friends who hang out occasionally? Or do you have a much smaller group of friends (klein aber fein = small but refined), who do everything together? In this lesson, we will talk about your circle of friends at UW. In the end, you will be able to 1) say how many friends you have and 2) say how often you hang out with your friends.

1) Number of friends

In previous lessons you learned two important adjectives to describe the size of something: groß and klein. When you think of your Freundeskreis (friend + circle), which word is the best fit? Groß oder klein? Hast du viele gute Freunde oder wenige gute Freunde?

Jetzt bist du dran!

Hast du viele gute Freunde oder wenige gute Freunde? Answer the question in your written journal, using language modeled in the previous activity. Practice using both expressions.
Record the sentences you practiced in the activity above in your audio journal.

2) Talk about how often you hang out

Maybe you are extrovertiert and hang out a lot with friends. Or, maybe you are introvertiert and prefer down time without friends around. Here are ways to describe those scenarios. Read and listen to each statement. Then answer the questions that follow.

Do you hang out/meet up with your friends a lot or a little? Look at the example sentences above and choose one to write in your written journal.
Then record yourself saying the sentence aloud in your audio journal.

Zum Schluß

In this lesson, you learned how to 1) say how many friends you have and 2) say how often you hang out with your friends. If you are feeling unsure about any part of the expanded introduction, go back to that section and review.
Hast du einen großen oder kleinen Freundeskreis? Triffst du dich oft mit deinen Freunden? Using the modeled language in this lesson, answer the questions in your written journal. Then record yourself in your audio journal. If you can do it immediately without reading, that’s great! Otherwise, practice saying it a couple times before recording. Or rerecord, if you are not satisfied.
