In first year German, you learned how to say where you live (Ich wohne in Laramie.) Now you will learn how to talk more expansively about dein Zuhause (your place of residence) – now and in the the future. By the end of this Thema, you will be able to talk about where you live, where you plan to live in the future, and what your dream house should look like.

Here is an overview of the learning objectives for each Lektion of the Thema Mein Zuhause. At the end of each lesson, you will be able to…

1.1 Haus und Wohnung

1. talk about typical residences, what kind of residence you have now,
2. say where you live now (city, Stadtrand, auf dem Land)
3. say whether you have roommates/flatmates
4. Nach dem Studium… what kind of residence you plan to have, plan to live after college, whether you plan to have housemates in the future

1.2 Meine nächste Wohnung

1. talk about the typical rooms in a house or apartment
2. talk about the typical features and furniture
3. describe your next living space
4. detail the household items you will need to buy for your next home

1.3 Die Wohnungssuche

1. talk about a typical city
2. talk about the location of your next apartment
3. write a list of specifications for a new place to live
4. read apartment listings to identify a place with your specifications, read housemate listings to identify a place you would likely fit in
5. plan a tour of your chosen apartment(s)

1.4  Mein Traumhaus

1. describe your dream house
2. describe your dream house location
3. read real estate listings and compare with dream house
4. detail the household items you would like to have for your dream house

You will demonstrate how well you have achieved the learning objectives with your Themenprojekt: Meine Wohnung. You will write or verbally present a description of your Traumhaus.
