After arriving at your destination and settling into your lodgings, you will probably explore your destination by seeing the sights (Sehenswürdigkeiten), doing activities (Aktivitäten), or both. At the end of this lesson, you will be able to 1) identify different kinds of sightseeing and talk about what you prefer to do, 2) identify different kinds of activities and talk about what you prefer to do, and 3) book sightseeing and activities for travel to a German-speaking country.
1) Sehenswürdigkeiten
Sofia Müller wird nach ihrem Abitur nach Liechtenstein reisen. Sofia Müller will travel to Liechtenstein after she graduates from high school. Read along as you listen to her talk about the many sights she will visit along the way.

3) Die Reiseplanung
Read and listen as Erich speaks with a travel agent* about a trip he wants to plan to Liechtenstein. *There are a number of German terms for a travel agent: Tourismuskaufmann/-frau, Reiseverkehrskaufmann/-frau, Reisebürokauffmann/-frau, Expedient/-in.
Tourismuskauffrau: Guten Tag! Wie kann ich Ihnen helfen?
Erich: Guten Tag! Ich möchte eine Reise nach Liechtenstein planen. Können Sie mir einige Tipps geben?
Tourismuskauffrau: Natürlich! Liechtenstein ist ein kleines, aber sehr schönes Land. Wann möchten Sie reisen?
Erich: Ich denke im Sommer. Ich mag Natur und möchte viel draußen unternehmen.
Tourismuskauffrau: Das ist eine gute Wahl! Im Sommer können Sie in den Bergen wandern. Besonders schön ist der Fürstensteig – ein Wanderweg mit toller Aussicht.
Erich: Das klingt interessant! Gibt es noch andere Aktivitäten?
Tourismuskauffrau: Ja! Sie können das Schloss Vaduz besuchen. Es ist die Residenz des Fürsten von Liechtenstein. Auch das Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein ist sehr beliebt.
Erich: Ich interessiere mich für Kultur. Gibt es noch Museen?
Tourismuskauffrau: Ja, es gibt auch das Liechtensteines Landesmuseum. Dort erfahren Sie viel über die Geschichte von Liechtenstein.
Erich: Das klingt gut! Kann man auch mit dem Fahrrad fahren?
Tourismuskauffrau: Ja, es gibt viele Fahrradwege. Sie können zum Beispiel am Rhein entlangfahren.
Erich: Super! Wie komme ich am besten nach Liechtenstein?
Tourismuskauffrau: Sie können mit dem Zug nach Sargans in der Schweiz fahren und von dort mit dem Bus nach Vaduz. Oder Sie reisen mit dem Auto.
Erich: Das ist gut zu wissen. Vielen Dank für die Informationen!
