Welcome to Writing Center Training, a collection of Open Educational Resources designed to introduce new and returning Writing Center consultants to foundational concepts in Writing Center theory and everyday practice.

Inside this book, you’ll find practical strategies, reflective prompts and activities, advice from real Writing Center consultants, and short readings that explore the philosophy behind Writing Center work. These materials are meant to support your growth as a peer consultant as you work to help others become more confident and capable communicators.

Each chapter includes a short reading, followed by either an activity, a reflection prompt, or both. Please complete the chapters in order, starting with Chapter 1, as later sections build on earlier concepts.

We hope this resource serves as a helpful companion to your training, staff meetings, and day-to-day consulting work.
