Chapter 7 Activity: Scavenger Hunt
As a University of Wyoming consultant, you may field questions from clients about campus services, or, feel the need to direct them to resources that they may need to succeed in college, whether this is research help, mental health support, technology access, or just a quiet place to write.
To prepare for these moments, take a walk around campus and get familiar with some of our key partner offices. This activity is meant to get you comfortable saying, “Hi, I’m a Writing Center consultant,” while also helping you connect names to faces, see where services are physically located, and learn what each office offers.
Instructions:
-
Visit at least 5 of the locations below (you can do this by yourself or with another new consultant).
-
At each stop:
-
Introduce yourself as a new Writing Center consultant.
-
Ask the suggested question, or another polite, curious question.
-
Snap a selfie at the location.
-
-
If an office is closed or too busy, make a note and try again later. Alternatively, reflect on what the space seems to offer based on signage, layout, or posted materials.
Be respectful, don’t interrupt private conversations, and remember: you’re not bothering anyone. These offices are delighted to meet students who care about helping other students succeed!
