In this lesson, we will expand our conversation about clothing to talk about what you wear for a small variety of occasions. In the end, you will be able to 1) list what you wear for some occasions and 2) state options.

1)What do you wear?

What we wear depends on the occasion. Take a look at these examples. What Kleidungsstücke vocabulary do you see? Complete the questions in the question set below the chart to practice.

beim Sport		Beim Sport trage ich eine kurze Hose, ein T-Shirt, Socken und Schuhe.
wenn ich ausgehe		Wenn ich ausgehe, trage ich eine Bluse und einen Rock. Wenn ich ausgehe, trage ich ein Hemd und eine Hose.
an der Uni		An der Uni trage ich ein T-Shirt, eine Jacke und eine Hose.

Sometimes you have options when it comes to what you wear. Do you remember the German words for but and and? Let’s add another word similar to these.

Österreich im Blickpunkt: Dirndl und Lederhosen

Beim Thema Kleidung in Österreich denken viele an die Tracht. Regional gibt es Unterschiede, aber Dirndl und Lederhose gehören zur klassischen Ausstattung.	On the topic of clothing in Austria, many think of Tracht, traditional garments. Regionally, there are differences, but the Dirndl and Lederhose belong to the classic outfit.
Zur klassichen Männertracht gehören die Lederhose, das Trachtenhemd sowie Trachtensocken und -schuhe.	The classical Tracht for men consists of Lederhose (leather pants), a traditional shirt as well as traditional socks and shoes.
Zur klassichen Damentracht gehört das Dirndl: ein Rock mit Rockschürze, Dirndlbluse mit Rüschen oder Spitze und ein Mieder. Wo frau die Schürzenschleife bindet (nach moderner Tradition), kann etwas über ihren Stand sagen.
