2.4 Aufräumen nach der Party

Lektionsüberblick

This unit on your daily life has reviewed daily routines and then more specifically morning routines and introduced how to talk about these things in the past. With our last lesson, you reviewed free time activities and learned how to say what you did last weekend. In this final lesson of our second unit, will talk about tidying up after a big party – something that probably does not happen every day – but helps you review how to talk about where you live, where things are in your apartment, and where things need to be put so that your home is tidy. Of course, many of the structures you will review and learn will be transferable to other topics.

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to 1) say where things were in your apartment, 2) say where everything needs to go, and 3) say where you put everything.

1) Wo war alles? Wo ist alles gewesen?

Ach du meine Güte! Das war ein verrückter Abend! Oh no! That was a crazy evening! Wie ist der Teppich an die Decke gekommen? How did the rug end up on the ceiling?

Before we know how to put everything back in order, we first have to know, where everything was.

Jetzt bist du dran!

Wo war alles? Look around your room (or, if you’re not at home, think about your room): What things are not in their proper place? Pick at least three items and state where they were before. Use the activity above as a model.

When you are done, look over the model again and check if your spelling and structures match with the model. Then record your description in your audio journal. Be sure to listen to your recording and rerecord, if you are not satisfied.

2) Wo kommt alles hin?

Now that we know where everything was. Let’s learn how to say how we put everything back.

Jetzt bist du dran!

Wo kommt alles hin? Now state where you will place your chosen objects in order to return them to their proper place.

When you are done, look over the model again and check if your spelling and structures match with the model. Then record your description in your audio journal. Be sure to listen to your recording and rerecord, if you are not satisfied.

3) Wo hast du alles hingetan?

The final step will be to say where we put things.

Jetzt bist du dran!

Wo hast du alles hingetan? Now that your room is cleaned up (at least in your mind!), write down what you did to tidy up. Use the model above. Be sure to use the model instead of just thinking about what you would say in English. It’s important that you use your German!

When you are done, look over the model again and check if your spelling and structures match with the model. Then record your description in your audio journal. Be sure to listen to your recording and rerecord, if you are not satisfied.
